Coming of Age Tournament - Thursday 21st June 6.30pm for 7pm start PROMPT!
Here's the format and rules:
Basically a bench minor style competition over 90 minutes (10 minutes half time oranges) featuring two teams.
The teams are The Elders - all registered players above halfway on the players age list; The Young Bangers - all registered players below halfway.
The two Captains are able to rotate their on court teams as they wish, but only on each of the nine 5 minute intervals in each half ie. every 5 minutes there will be the opportunity for either or both Captains to call a TEAM TIMEOUT to change up to 2 players at a time.
> All players must be used by the Captains during the course of the evening.
> No player may play more than 10 consecutive minutes.
> No player may play more than an aggregate of 20 minutes within the allotted 90 minutes*.
A simple team/player timesheet will record all on court times and be available to Captains to check on remaining player times.
There will be a 30 second Team Timeout period (in which the game will stop on the referees whistle) available to Captains each and every 5 minute period throughout the game. The game will recommence with a joust.
Each Captain or Vice Captain must make sure they communicate any planned team player changeovers to the referees on the 'ledge' BEFORE the end of each allotted 5 minute period, to ensure changeovers are managed smoothly. If no changes are communicated to the referees by both Captains when the 5th minute is called, then the game will continue without the team timeout being called.
NOTE: only the referees can announce the Team Timeout to the players on court and call the players off.
If you are playing/on court when the Team Timeout is called - please be ready to exit the court on the referees instruction.
If you have been asked by your Captain or Vice Captain that you are about to go on court - please be ready to play.
If you are not on court within the time period/shutting of the gate then the game will have recommenced without you and the team will have to continue with the remaining players on court!
It is up to the Captains to plan their tactical player changeovers as the game progresses and to ensure all players play the minimum and the maximum times allowed.
Based on the numbers registered, each player will have a maximum of 60 minutes on court of which only 15 minutes (max) can be continuous. Players MUST play a minimum of 30 minutes in total for their team.
*We may extend the match duration to cater for the numbers/make sure everyone gets a decent run out.
