OK, two in one there, as you will see...
Talk of camping and riding at Fort William this year for all youz MTBers out there. I'm up for it and have approval and pink chitty signed by The Boss. Need to work out a date and a list:
1. Nate - Any date after MayDay except first wknd in July(see below for rationale)
I've just booked a place on the Flow course offered by Ed Oxley (Gisburn Forest, April 27th) as I'm not afraid to admit I'm afraid of Fort Bill!!! Need to have this one approved by the management but I'll play the essential-for-safety-at-Bill card... see http://www.great-rock.co.uk/courses/more-advanced/720-2/ He mentioned there being other places available so praps others will want to brush up skills/confidence before tackling the world cup DH track?? There's a Hebden guided ride the following day which I'd deffo be on if it weren't Mother Superior's birthday.
in!
I've always fancied Fort William, might be up for the skills thing too, see how bad my MTBing has got first, even if it's alright I've always figured having someone who knows their shit tell you what you could be doing better will never be a bad thing.
If your 'MTBing' is anything like your 'POLOing' then I'd say avoid the skills thing.
Oh, and http://www.mbr.co.uk/forums/ >>>>>>>>
;)
Aw, you think I'm great at POLOing do you Chan? Thanks babe, I think you're great at washing your hair - you're a shampoo idol of mine actually :*
I reckon Ed could teach any of us a trick or too, except possibly Blondie. Go on, then we could post pics and stuff on www.mhbp.co.uk !!!
Any thoughts on dates?? Term-time is probably better for me as less competition for holiday requests... Anyone else willing to take some jollydays to make the most of it?? even if just Friday-Monday...
Provisional in, dates can be whenever there is no polo tourney.
Cheers for the vote of confidence Chan.
Currently standing at just the two in March??
On a serious tip MTBing is great for anyone wanting to improve bike skills and fitness, am well up for this though, any chance to get out into the countryside
he'd definitely out beard you all!!
Fort william DH track guy's..... you know you want too.......
im in with cherry's on top
Hot.
OK, so listy listy timey:
I'm gunna plump for Going up on Friday 12th July and coming home in as few pieces as possible on Monday 15th, just because there's gotta be some date. Term time is better because I won't have to mind my kids and I presume it'll be quieter on the track too. Am also happy to take holiday and do it midweek if that's better for others, again it'll probably be quieter still. After 26th June is preferable 'cause I gotta get the little miss a new bike for her birthday, plus I should be paid for a few annual gigs by then. September might be OK too but I'll have to get my holiday request in soon for that.
12th - 15th July

Yayyy
Boom! 12th-15th July suiting everyone? Stopha was talking about his mates splitter-van bringing all the bikes and another few heads.
(doing little seat dance)
Rob - you fixed up that MTB yet?!
The new trail in Phillips Park by SportCity is rideable already... I'm going to try for Saturday 16th but am up for an after-school jaunt if anyone else is?!
I have everything except spokes I think, I'll try and get them next week.
Gisburn have new lines opening on the 23rd of March, I'm going to try and get a day pass. Bloody good riding there, had an epic 7hour session yesterday :) Will have space in my car for one, could be persuaded to take two...
Nate that's the weekend of the north vs south tournament, I work Saturdays and Sundays now but could probably get the odd one off with notice, really wanna go back to gisburn, my favourite place so far I think
Howdy y'all! We still on for this? I spangled my hand good and proper mere days after poloifying the trailstar and can't ride fir another month, dur. Should be ok for more damage at Bill n Powerhouse by July tho B-)
Hopefully, yeah man.
It'll be great bike handling training.
I clearly need it else I would be rocking the polo already. Had to postpone the mtb skills thing with Ed Oxley, probably now doing it in hebden on July 15th (think that's right date) which is probably similar terrain to Bill...
There is a MTB trail at sport city? is it any good?
It's recently been finished, I've heard good news about some of the first parts to open but the full trail wasn't open when I heard that.
Might be worth a Saturday.
I had no idea, will check it out asap.
yeah, my five year old could ride it all, even the 'red' bits, so not too techy - I'd even bring the wife there without much hesitation. Would be well fun at speed though. Due to be finished in a few weeks but there's loads rideable already. Watch out for broken glass - a fair amount deliberately placed over rock gardenettes and suchlike.
The stuff at Philips Park in Prestwich is better I reckon. The pump and skills tracks at SportCity should be finished soon, looked like they were just making it look pretty when I was there last week.
So can we have a definitive listy for FW? I've booked the whole week leading up to it as holiday so am good to head up any time from Wed 10th. It's £57 for two days gondola and I'm toying with the idea of hiring a FS as I don't know how sore my gammy hand will still be. Plenty of interesting riding aside from the DH to be had for another few days tho. Could even do the Great Glen Way...
