I'll host if there's peeps coming over
I'm up for cycling to Hebden for this.
Could be tempted if there's some Hebden polo 1st.
#trainobviously
Hokeydokey - Ride up Thursday late morning, Polo all afternoon, Cinema Thursday evening, Camping Thursday night, Mary Townley Loop Friday, Twilight Polo evening, getting lost on way home Friday night.
Anyone but Salman and I up for this?
I might be the only one with one bike to rule them all... My Precious!
Riding? Aren't there hills and whatnot?
Only teensy weensy ones... I'll be doing it on my polo bike!
Your polo bike has gears.
polo court in HB is shit surface, be warned it will eat your mallets.
Nom, nom, nom.
One bike to rule them all, Em!
Seriously though, just polo on a cx or mtb this once, surely?
i wiiiiish! ;[ ive got work all thursday, will close the shop bit earlier to get there just in time for the film. might stick around later to see whats up, but not sure, and again work friday. baah
Could have a party in my workshop?
I like to assume parties are all you do in your workshop and no bikes ever enter it.
No students around to do my work for me so no all-day Hebden Polo on Thursday or XC riding on Friday for me :( but have evening pass for Thursday at least.
List time:
Riding up on Thursday (time available)
1. Nate - can be ready to leave at 4pm if that's not too late
fancy the canal route??
Getting train after work (time available)
1. Alter-r-Nate - 4pm if riders ride too early for me to join them
Hebden Polo
1 Nate - if getting train or up early enough after riding
It says one needs a permit to bike on the towpaths but the link leads to a page without permit mentioned. I cannae be hooped tae pesh around wi it. feel free to try harder than I just did, fellow canal-riding poloistas.
Anyone familiar with the ride and how long we can expect it to take? Ben?
I'd do it on roads if possible.
for why?
The ride as far as (just past) Rochdale is miserable on road, no redeeming features that I am aware of, so I request we use the canal that far at least. The road route is 27 miles, canal is 36 and would be slower, but it's about the adventure innit? and avoiding cars AMAP.
Are your concerns steed-related? I was planning to go on the polo/xc/city/pub machine, my bum wants maximal cushioning after yesterday; Drew's a rough rider.
What date is this? I'd be up for Getting train with polo bike and camping?
^^Not the first time that's been said
#notevenjoking
Yeah the roads to Rochdale are not very scenic, but neither are the canals! It only takes about 25mins from mine on bikes, anyway
I just remember a friend going on these canals to Hebden and complaining about sections of it which are falling apart.
Plus, you can't go fast on canals!
Let's just mix and match.
canals are wet/muddy/dogshit! tarmac is cleaner and faster. What time you think you 'll be gettingover, you need me to book campsite? got a bit of spare space at mine but I'm off to newcastle friday morning.
That's this Thursday ennit? I'd like to camp over but dunno if my mum's back up to do Friday baby duty.
My mum's about so I am available for some films, camping and polo.
no camping for me but yes film yes polo :) MHBP hit Hebden, YEAAH!

The MT loop isn't to be trifled with, either... ;-)
What's the MT loop?
