Wrist update

I had a few people asking about my wirst last time I was down so thought I'd give you the update having now seen my consultant.

First the good news...
I don't need the Ti bolt kit installing :-) They were really worried I would but it seems the fracture has closed OK. The concerns came about because it looked like it had not healed up from my 2008 crash, they now believe that I broke it along the same fracture line when I had my crash in March. While this is good news it's also bad news in that I now have a very much weakened area and if / when I crash again the likelihood is that it will break there again.

The bad news...
Because of the way my bones have healed there is some debate as to the merits of filing down some scar material on one of the bones that rests against my Scaphoid. While this might make things better it has the potential to aggravate tendons and leave me with a very tender scar. We've decided to try another 3 months of physiotherapy and to make a call in November. The op if it happens would be another 8 weeks of strapped up wrist / totally off the bike so I'm really trying to avoid it if possible.

So I'm back on the bike sans wrist guards and trying to push some more miles. Most days it's not to bad but if I do much with it then I get crazy aches the next day. Now that I know the bones are sound enough it's easier to just keep using it, live with a bit of pain and hope that over time it gets back to full strength. The consultant has politely suggested that I try not to crash again and that with the best will in the world I'm always going to have a few issues with it.

Shit happens..

Old news now, we've broken another wrist.

Glad it's healing up alright though, guessing weakened bones means nolo?

No, being a soft arse big girls blouse means nolo. Battered wrist just means less masturbation.
