If you're going Marino (and have the time) why not design it yourself?

I'd go Hija, but only because Alejandro is nice. Without seeing geo for both it's hard to tell as they're made by the same guy.

id go for The Hija de la Coneja lots of people have them and like them

I'm still to order, £145 a frame inc shipping. 3-4 week turn around, custom geo, painting. Should be cheaper if you dont want the curved seat tube and tons of gussets and such.

Their other frames look really good, and they seem to understand exactly what is needed, still a bit unproven as compared to the marinos though.

they look good, do they only do aluminium? id prefer steel given the choice

Just the alu, I'm getting a hipster frame but reckon I'd like some nice steel for poloing. Although The tubes are probably pretty thick so shouldn't be too delicate.

Get an Oak. It's 2½x the price, but at least 4x better.

And 8x as cool.

very similar to the marinos. 73 head tube and seat tube, bit bigger and lower BB. made for 2" kojaks, 170-175mm cranks with spds and my sz12 feet to just about have tyre clearence.

you cant go far wrong really, just use what everyone else has and adjust the head angle, size and bb height to suit you, and mainly your fork.

If you want to wait a month or so before ordering we'll see how mine turn out.

the marinos and such are fine though. the others are really nice, but doubt you'd want to spend that much.

I think it was Colin who made a really helpful post about forks, rake, trail and all that somewhere in the LFGSS polo forum but I can't find it.

^^I think there's works on the Bakerloo line.

Front-centre on that is really long. I can run 570mm F-c with 1.5" 26" wheels and 175mm cranks flat pedals and no overlap. Shorter than that by 5-10mm if using spuds.

Also, the less weight on your front wheel (the shorter the rear end) the lighter the steering will feel (and the more trail you can get away with)

I'm also getting a Mielec. This Marino handles like a shrinkwrapped narwhal.

I thought the front end was long, but I worked out my crank total length thing as about 280mm, thats including my shoes and crank. As you can see it on the design, it gives me 2.6mm or so clearence, I realise that as the wheel twists It moves away a bit, but better safe than sorry I thought.

I'd fucking love a narwhal, shrinkwrapped or not, I'm going good.

it is a custom one, It probably wasn't too bad before marino sloppily stuck it together. bad alignment, angles off....

The ones mentioned built for garyhandjob and such are better though, I believe.

I'm currently building my own frame out of some scrappy old bits but mainly as an experiment as to what's going to work. I'm not sure how short I want the bike to be so I've built it around what I'm currently using.

I'm not too bothered about toe overlap as it's something I'm used to. The wheelbase does seem tiny at 890mm

I'm thinking of getting a frame built by Mielec but that will have to wait until I know how the current build needs to be changed.before I send off any emails to them. I'm not tempted by a Marino because of the quality involved. With a bit more practice I could weld as good as him but have the time to make sure the geo is still correct before welding.

One thing I noticed about the geo you posted Scott is how long that frame is. Your saddle height is about the same height as mine but I don't remember you being that much taller than me.

Possibly have one you can haz for a beer.

Some people ride them 26" front and like it, if you get a disc fork that could work. Doubt it'll be a problem though, people have been poloing on them for ages and doing well, just don't hop too much.
