If it ain't broke...
Can someone remind me why I felt it necessary to take off the cassette and derailleur that was doing such a spiffig job of keeping my chain on and replace it with single cogs and a tensioner that utterly fail to do just that?
Also: if anyone could spare a hand or two to make said single cog and tensioner actually work I'll be delighted to supply them with beer.
nate if you can wheel it to polo tonight il have a go?
can give it a tickle if needed.
Bring it down, I'll bring a hammer, will you bring my cassette tool too, I've got a non park one you can keep.
Boom, you guys are sooooper lovely, thanks. Thanks Rob, chain stretch tool and cassette tool are the only tools I gave away that i regularly-ish need, will bring beers/cider for you.
Could anyone bring a cable cutter? I need to put a new brake cable that I need to cut first. Thanks!
I will bring cable cutter chain tool and Allen keys, that should be all or Nate do you need casette tool?
Got it working, thanks everyone who helped!
Eventually settled on using the derailleur from my other bike - far superior solution.
Anyone got a 19 or 20tooth single cog? Mine is from a cassette so is ramped, not a big issue so can bide time...
Also need a proper spacing kit if anyone has one going? Currently using lots of pissy plastic single spacers bulked up with additional cogs - not pretty.
If it's ramped you could use bigger cogs to keep it in place until you get ss specific one.
On the DMR most people use those gusset tensioners in push rather than pull mode. There was an 18t SS specific cog in the bag of bits I chucked at you with the bike which might help a bit. From the hunt I had when I owned it there are a couple of options on e-bay, have a search for 'Superstar singlespeed kit' they give you a SS specific cog and alloy spaces for less than most spacer kits alone. Certainly had 20t with alloy spacers for not much over £10.
Does anyone have a bit of 9 speed chain? Need about 4-6 links, please bring to polo if you do thank you
Actually, I have 4 to 6 links in my bag from work, I'll bring them.
sorted thank xxx
Anyone got an avid bleed kit I could borrow?
Them tings are expensive for a couple of syringes and some fittings, I believe there is an after market version that is only a bit of a rip off.
If I was still allowed into the lab I could have got some syringes and tubing.
It's the shitty screw on fittings that cost, the rest is just general cheapo crap.
yeah its the screw/clamp that i carnt find.
