Starting a thread to get tips and advice on getting my own bike going. If you've got an of either let me know.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/specialized-Langster-fixed-gear-/231367825413?...
I know the price will almost certainly go up but is this the sort of thing?
a bit too shiny and will need lots of work to turn it into a polo bike.
Should handle quite well but is the 52cm model big enough for you? The toptube will only be 53cm, what's the seatpost-to-bar distance on your current bike?

Come have a go on other people's bikes first dude.
He did. You weren't there you lightweight.
He's had a go on most peoples bikes, the general consensus last night was it woul be cheaper/easier to get some kind of fixie, charge plug, langster etc and just change the gearing for starters
Also I think a 54/56 should be right your quite tall arnt you?
Also Scott stay out of the thread, you don't play polo
I have a globe frame you can buy its 550mm top tube. And either 52-53cm seat tube. Will have to check. No head set or BB though. 50 quid probs for it.
Actually it's 54cm from c-c on the top tube and from c of BB to top of seat tube is 53cm. Its the globe roll 1.
Thought we both couldn't make it.
Get a Dolan.
Had a look for charge plugs but there aren't any on ebay. I think that frame would be a bit small wouldn't it Arthur? how tall are you? Especially considering how close to giving yourself a vasectomy you are on your current bike
http://www.gumtree.com/p/bicycles/fixie-single-speed-bike-spares-repairs... - I'll email the seller to get proper sizing info but it depends on the forks too
^ that looks ok, offer him £50, get a MTB fork and stick a V brake on it?
iv got cranks and small chainring you can have
you could stick a set of pompino forks on it?
http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FOOOPV3/on-one-pompino-cro-mo-fork-2012
Those cranks would be good, I've just emailed him so it'll probably take a while to reply. £30 for new forks doesn't seem too bad
I was going to say a create or sutin isnt too bad. you could sell the cranks, wheels, brakes and any other parts you dont want and have a free frameset. pick up some better wheels, disk fork, brake and its pretty much sorted. sizing is probably about right.
yeah didn't think about selling all the bits i don't need!
Based on the photos, I'm pretty sure the fork is being run backwards... Don't trust the owner to give you useful/accurate measurements.
well whatever he says i'll go down and have a look and see if it fits me anyway
forks arnt backwards the tabs are on the right side. though you probably could run them backwards now....
Yeh forks arnt backwards there bent, says in the description
it's size is: 5 6" - 5' 9" 168 - 175 cm 54 - 55 cm M
seemed alright to me it's a lot easier to balance on than my current bike so i went ahead and got it, just in need of that fork and some cranks now
How much steerer do you need? Got a Pompino fork spare that might work...
what do you mean by steerer?
around 22cm
Sweet! Youl have a proper polo bike in no time
what about those cranks Ste?
You can have them, wait until you've got the forks etc and I can put it all together for you one time before polo?
