BB7 pads

Hey, so I need some new pads for my BB7. Which are the best ones, or ones most suitable for polo?

Looking at these on chainreaction:

So either:

Sintered
Organic
Organic - Alu. Back Plate

organics. alu back plate will save you 2 grams and whatever a quid weighs.

compatible pads / non avid makes such as baradine will save you a bit of moneny too.

Organic are better for polo I reckon, they wear a bit quicker but are quieter and work better from cold, sintered are good if you are doing long descents and things are getting really hot or it's really wet and muddy, generally not polo problems.

Chan - the bloody awful squealing I had was from the sintered pads - organics that scott got me are fine …….and no bloody squealing

So just organic or the alu back plate organic?

Whatever is cheaper.

Organic and I guess Alu will be a bit lighter so may as well get those

Weight weenie fodder, more Scott pads than Chan pads.

Should also cause less wear to the pad-locating lumps on the "pistons"

A non-issue.

Not polo related but while there is some disc discussion going...

How (un)important is the pad/rotor combination? For example, do Avid pads work with ice-tech rotors or are you better sticking all Avid/all Shimano?

Shouldn't matter, but if the leading edge of the pad is at the same angle as slots in the rotor it can get pretty unpleasant.

Also I say you get what you pay for, don't bother with £5 stamped rotors off eBay etc

Shouldn't matter, I've always gone avid and they've been decent for the price.

Just fitted a rear disc and calliper to my Pompetamine. Avid calliper and pads, shimano centre lock disk. Seems spot on.
